Sustainable food systems are essential to ensuring food security and nutrition for rural populations. These systems must be economically viable, socially inclusive, and environmentally sound to address the interconnected challenges of hunger, poverty, and climate change. At ACTNOW KENYA, We place great emphasis on integrating novel practices such as community gardening to promote equitable access to food and nutrition.

Nutrition Education

Shift in food supply chains is a process of continuous learning and unlearning of sustainable food systems that exists in communities today. Through our Agroecological hubs, ACTNOW KENYA is harnessing the capacity of kids to produce, and prepare nutritional foods for their families in an early age - a ripple effect that will eventually be seen throughout the community in years to come.

Community Gardening Hubs

Nkishon Hub is positioned to be a community agroecological hub for learning nutrition and crop production in Mukogodo West Ward. This is enhance smart gardening difusion and emergence of food systems in the community.

As Government-led school feeding program continues to face gaps in nutrion and consistrnt food supply, there is a need for sustainable food supply systems. Here at ACTNOW KENYA, we believe implementing programs focused on regenerative school gardens will not only sustain school feeding programs but will also ensure access to fresh and timely produce and breeds a new generation of young people consious about their nutritional needs.

ACTNOW KENYA works with women, schools and youth groups to promote nutrition education, smart vegetable gardens and climate resilient practices like beekeeping and mushroom farming. We ensure that the activities promote value addition and market linkages to boost both household food sovereignty and economic capacities.
